Coffee subscription affiliate programs — how they actually pay

Subscription boxes are the most-promoted affiliate offer in coffee content. Here's how their commissions are usually structured, where the income stops, and what to check before you put a link in a description.

How coffee subscription affiliate programs are structured

Most roaster and subscription-box programs pay one of two ways: a flat bounty (commonly $10–20) when a referred customer places their first order, or a percentage of the first order (commonly 10–20%). On a $30–40 box those come out to roughly the same money. A smaller number pay on renewals too — but almost always with a cap, such as the first three months, after which the customer is theirs and the commission stops.

Attribution runs through a tracking cookie, usually 30 days, sometimes 7 or 14. If your viewer watches your video, thinks about it for a month, and then subscribes, you're often paid nothing.

Where the income stops

Three things cut a subscription program's earnings shorter than they look on the sign-up page:

None of that makes subscription links a bad idea. They're a fine way to earn from a roaster or box review. It just means the income resets every month: to keep the same number, you keep sending new people.

What to check before you sign up

Subscription bounties vs. recurring commissions

ModelPaysStops whenBest for
First-order bounty$10–20 once, or 10–20% of order oneRight after the first orderRoaster and box reviews
Capped recurringA cut of the first 2–3 renewalsAt the cap, or when they pauseSame, slightly better
Uncapped recurringA monthly commission for as long as the subscriber staysOnly if they cancelBrewing and troubleshooting content

Be honest about the math. A $15 bounty beats a $0.75-a-month commission unless the subscriber stays about 20 months. At $1.50 a month the crossover is 10 months; at $2.00 it's under 8. So recurring isn't magic — it wins on retention and on back catalog. A subscriber you referred from a two-year-old video is still paying you, and a hundred of them add up to real monthly income you didn't have to re-earn.

The two models aren't in competition. Most creators should run both: subscription and gear links for the one-time money, and a recurring program for the part that compounds.

Where Coffee Brew Coach fits

Coffee Brew Coach's affiliate program is the uncapped kind: a monthly commission for every Pro subscriber you refer, for as long as they stay, with your rate stepping up from $0.75 to $2.00 a month as your active referrals grow — and never stepping back down. It sits naturally next to a subscription link: the box sells them the beans, the app helps them brew those beans well. Payouts are currently open to affiliates in the US and Canada.

Common questions

Do coffee subscription affiliate programs pay recurring commissions?

Usually not for long. Most pay a one-time bounty or a percentage of the first order. Some pay on the first two or three renewals, then stop. Very few keep paying for the life of the subscription, so check the terms for a cap before you sign up.

How much do coffee subscription affiliate programs pay?

Typically a flat $10–20 per new subscriber, or 10–20% of the first order — roughly the same money either way on a $30–40 box. Recurring programs pay less per month but keep paying for as long as the subscriber stays.

Which pays more: a subscription bounty or a recurring commission?

The bounty wins in month one. A recurring commission wins if the subscriber stays long enough to cross over — at $0.75 a month that's about 20 months against a $15 bounty; at $1.50 it's 10. Most creators run both: subscription and gear links for the one-time money, a recurring program for the part that compounds.
